Nourishing Sweet Orange Lip Balm

Nourishing Sweet Orange Lip Balm:

J-man is in 3rd grade this year, and he’s got a lot going on. There are tests, homework, required reading, and projects. He’s developed a nervous habit of licking his lips, and they’ve gotten really chapped.

I could put Natural First Aid Cream on his lips, but the tea tree oil smells really medicinal. So I made a few minor adjustments and came up with this rich, nourishing lip balm.

The coconut oil and olive oil provide soothing moisture, and the beeswax gives it body. The ratio of oil to beeswax is higher with this than with the first aid cream, so it glides over your lips easily.

Skip the essential oil for an unscented version, or personalize it with the essential oils of your choice.

1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
2 tablespoons beeswax pastilles
6 drops wild orange essential oil

Melt everything except the essential oil in a double boiler over low heat. Once the beeswax is melted, remove from heat and mix in the essential oil. Quickly pour into a clean, recycled lip balm tube or a small jar.

Pucker up!

How big is a beeswax pastille? I have beeswax but I need to chop it and measure it. How many ounces or grams in a pastille?
