Natural Colors for Melt-and-Pour Soap

We love making homemade soap without using lye, with the melt-and-pour method. It’s easy to do, and the kids have a blast mixing in all the different colors and scents.

Madder root gives your soap a lovely brick red color.

Black Walnut Hull

Black walnut hull makes your soap a cool brown or brownish-black.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa powder makes a mellow green color (See the speckles in the leaves? That's what happens when you don't mix the powder with water before adding to the soap base.)

Yep, right out of the pantry. Cinnamon makes a warm brown color and lovely scent.

Since we're here, grab some paprika for an orange-yellow soap.
