Carefully measure your dry ingredients, and ensure your baking powder is fresh. There’s no yeast in these biscuits, so they won’t rise if the baking powder is old.
These biscuits won’t spread much while cooking, so you can put them pretty close together on the cookie sheet. Two fingers apart is a good distance.

Preheat the oven to 425. Pour the flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl. Add the milk and 4 Tablespoons of melted butter. Mix gently until just combined, then fold the cheese into the dough.
Using an ice cream scoop or serving spoon, scoop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
